The girls...out today.....in an orderly queue !!...before the pronking !!We are still under quite a deep snowy blanket here in Scotland.
Today I turned the girls out for a bit of a leg stretch and a Boxing Day Pronk....they had a great time and run about and rolled in the snow.....
It has been ages since we have seen any grass......I have forgotten what a green view looks like.
The boys are still inside the barn...refusing to venture out into the snow, no interest at all to get their feet cold !!
We are going through the hay at a rate of knots........I'm just hoping that we have a much more milder spell.....after the New Year !
I have survived Christmas.....for another year.......now I just have to survive the snow ! to be able to make it...into the New Year !

Hope you get a thaw soon - it's still thick in our fields and hay supplies are dwindling fast.

I knew that underneath those overalls, a queen was struggling to get out - and she made it! Nice to see the pronking kicking up the snow.

That fire looks nice and warm, you look nice and cosy, that is the best part i think of winter, is to feel cosy in front of the fire.
Your winters are so different from ours.
Christmas here in Australia was a beautiful 28 degree day, and although it is summer, we really have not seen alot of sun, normally this time of year the alpacas are all shorn (400 of them ) so this is a huge job usually all in for a solid week of long hours of shearing, and the hay is cut in the fields.
But not this year.
we are still getting rin, but it is not cold, the paddocks are too wet for the tractors to get in and cut the hay.
We are shearing our alpacas a dozen at a time, as we are giving them enough time to aclimatise to this cooler wet summer.
If the weather breaks suddenly, it is easier to shed those few at a time, until they aclimatize to the cooler conditions.
Maybe we are over cautious, but i never let my guard down.

That's way too comfortable in front of that log burner. Get into yer wellies and in the deep snow immediately. That is ruining your roughty-toughty image.
